Assistantships

The Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment offers graduate assistantships throughout the calendar year. Graduate assistants serve the department in a variety of capacities: on funded research projects, as assistants to graduate faculty members, or as instructors in selected courses. Full-time graduate, research, and teaching assistants work 20 hours per week for 15 weeks each semester. Stipends for full-time GAs range from $10,000 to $14,000 for the academic year. Part-time GAs work 10 hours per week for 15 weeks per semester. Stipends for half-time graduate assistantships range from $5,000 to $7,000 per academic year.

Recipients of assistantships must be fully admitted to a graduate degree program and must carry a full-time course load of 9-12 semester hours. Contact the program co-directors, Dr. Marie Hoepfl (hoepflmc@appstate.edu) OR Dr. Andrew Windham (windhamaw@appstate.edu) to inquire about assistantship opportunities and available scholarships.
