Dr. Jamie Russell Appointed Appalachian Energy Center Interim Director

Dr. Jamie Russell has been appointed to serve as the interim director of the Appalachian Energy Center for the 2018-2019 academic year.

 Russell is an associate professor of Building Science in the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and received his doctor of philosophy degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina in 2004.

 Russell joined the faculty at Appalachian State University in 2008; he was a Faraday Research Fellow at Ulster University in Belfast and served as a visiting professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. He has managed three Solar Decathlon Competition projects. His research focuses on energy in buildings and the impact on the local utility grid.

 Dr. Russell will begin his new role at the Energy Center during the fall 2018 semester.
